Code of Conduct

1. Purpose

This Code of Conduct sets the standards of behaviour expected of all members, athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, and representatives of the Cape Town Bodyboarding Association (“the Club”). It ensures the Club operates in a safe, respectful, inclusive, and professional manner at all times.
 

2. General Conduct

  • Members must act with integrity, honesty, and respect towards others.
  • Discrimination, bullying, harassment, intimidation, or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Members shall respect the rights, dignity, and worth of all individuals regardless of age, gender, race, religion, ability, or background.
  • Members must act in the best interests of the Club and the sport of bodyboarding at all times.

3. Conduct at Events, Training, and Competitions

  • Members must comply with all rules, safety regulations, and instructions issued by the Club, Surfing South Africa (SSA), or the South African Bodyboarding Association (SABA).
  • Unsportsmanlike behaviour, cheating, interference with competitors, or aggressive conduct is prohibited.
  • The use of alcohol or illegal substances during competitions or while representing the Club is strictly forbidden.
  • Members must prioritise safety and report any dangerous behaviour.

4. Social Media and Public Representation

  • Members shall not post or share any content that is defamatory, discriminatory, harmful, or damaging to the Club or its members.
  • Members representing the Club publicly must conduct themselves professionally.

5. Environmental Responsibility

  • Members must respect and protect the ocean, beaches, and natural environment.
  • Littering and pollution are strictly prohibited.

6. Disciplinary Action

  • Any breach of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including verbal/written warning, suspension, or termination of membership.
  • The Committee shall conduct a fair review process before imposing disciplinary actions.
  • Members have the right to appeal decisions in writing within 7 days of notification.

7. Acknowledgment

All members agree to be bound by this Code of Conduct. Breach of this Code may lead to disciplinary action or termination of membership.
