The CTBA community came together for an unforgettable fundraising evening on 19 September 2026, and what an incredible night it was.
The event exceeded all expectations, raising more funds than anticipated to support our riders as they prepare to represent Cape Town Bodyboarding at the upcoming SA Bodyboarding Championships.
On behalf of the entire CTBA Committee, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to every rider, parent, family member, friend, supporter and member of our wider community who helped make the evening such a tremendous success.
A community united
The raffle and auction were outstanding highlights of the evening. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, supporters donated prizes and auction items, purchased raffle tickets and enthusiastically bid throughout the night, helping us raise vital funds for our athletes.
Thank you, Tristan Roberts
A very special thank you goes to Tristan Roberts, one of South Africa’s most accomplished bodyboarders.
Tristan is a two-time Men’s World Champion, having claimed world titles in 2019 and 2022, as well as the 2014 Pro Junior World Championship. He generously donated one of his personal boards to our auction, giving supporters the opportunity to bid on an incredible piece of South African bodyboarding history.
We are extremely grateful for his generosity and continued support of the sport and its next generation of riders.
Thank you, Jared Houston
We were equally honoured to welcome another South African bodyboarding legend, Jared Houston, to the fundraiser.
Jared is also a two-time Men’s World Champion, winning world titles in 2015 and 2018. During the evening, he took the time to speak with everyone at the event, share stories from his career and sign boards for riders and supporters alike.
Having a rider of his calibre engaging with our young athletes and the wider CTBA community made the evening even more memorable.
And his generosity didn’t end there.
The following day, Jared surprised everyone at CTBA training by gifting the club a Houston custom board. It was an incredibly thoughtful gesture that our riders and committee will remember for a long time.
What a legend!
To have the support of riders like Jared and Tristan—both of whom have reached the very pinnacle of international bodyboarding—means a great deal to CTBA. As our own riders prepare for SA Championships, their willingness to give back provides an inspiring example for the next generation of South African bodyboarders.
Incredible entertainment
The entertainment was another major highlight of the evening.
A massive thank you goes to The Larter Brothers for delivering an awesome live performance and getting everyone on their feet. We’d also like to thank DJ Finn & Maymay for keeping the music pumping and the dance floor alive throughout the night.
