CAPE TOWN, South Africa – 13 June 2026
Derdesteen turned on the goods for the final event of the 2026 Cape Town Bodyboarding Association (CTBA) Trial Series on Saturday, 13 June. Clean winter conditions, punchy waves and plenty of scoring opportunities provided the perfect stage for an exciting day of competition as riders battled for final rankings ahead of team selection for the 2026 South African Bodyboarding Championships.
The final trial delivered everything competitors could have hoped for, with excellent surf, high energy in the water and outstanding performances across all divisions. Riders embraced the challenging conditions, showcasing progression, commitment and sportsmanship throughout the day while spectators enjoyed an exciting display of Western Cape bodyboarding talent.
“We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for an epic Trial 4,” said CTBA. “The conditions delivered, the stoke was high, and it was fantastic to see so many bodyboarders out there having fun, charging hard and pushing their skills to the next level.”
The conclusion of the series marked a fitting end to a highly competitive season. Across the final events, competitors demonstrated exceptional skill in a variety of conditions, with deep barrels, committed manoeuvres and fierce battles for podium positions highlighting the strength of bodyboarding in the Western Cape.
CTBA congratulates all athletes who participated throughout the series. The dedication, progression and camaraderie displayed by riders across every division have played a significant role in the continued growth of competitive bodyboarding in the region.
